I just Googled the term ‘cherry bomb,’ and there’s a whole lot of stuff that comes up. It’s a song by punk-rock band The Runaways, a high-performance muffler for your car, and of course, an old-school firecracker.
Conspicuously absent from the Google results is today’s Stone Age Love from California’s The Rare Barrel.
And I gotta tell ya, this oak-aged blend of Golden Sour Ales SHOULD be the very first result, because it’s packed with over 80lbs of tart cherries per oak barrel! And it’s the freakin’ BOMB!
My guess is, it doesn’t show up on Google because it’s so freakin’ hard to come by. Stone Age Love and its massive 4.06 UT-rating barely ever make it out of the Bay Area. And it can’t be found at all outside of the Golden State.
In fact, you won’t find anything from the 4x World Beer Cup Award-winners at The Rare Barrel outside of Cali!
Except for right here. Which means you can score a bottle without trekking out to Berkeley and battling the hipster hordes while they snap Instagram pics at the brewery. #cherrybomb #theREALLYrarebarrel
Plus, you get to show your friends the REAL definition of ‘cherry bomb!’
Imagine a glass of freshly-squeezed lemonade with just-picked cherries muddled into it, and you’ll have some idea of what to expect.
Open the bottle and aromas of baking cherry pie and grated lemon zest come pop-pop-popping up to greet you. Hints of oak and vanilla emerge from Barrel-Aging, and nuances of funk from the Brett fermentation. On the finish, look for subtle notes of almond-like nuttiness.
The Rare Barrel fans have already hit the order button and are eagerly anticipating their first taste of Stone Age Love. For the rest of you, it’s time to join the Oak-Aged Sour party!
We highly recommend listening to The Runaways while you drink it, because this stuff really is a CH-CH-CH-CH-CHERRY BOOOOMB!!!!
