After a really long day, I scour my cupboards for a delicious something to preserve my sanity at night. Something fruity but not too sweet, like one of my favorite comfort foods: homemade berry jam spread across toasted sourdough bread.
Which would be perfect, except I need that something to be a lil' bit boozy to help take the edge off.
Here’s where I turn to Seattle’s Sour sorcerers at Urban Family for a fix of Preservation. The blackberry-raspberry Sour Ale is a veritable jamboree of jammy, sweet-tart flavors spread over a backbone of bready lightness that finishes dry and puckering!
The brewers made this drinkable-preserves beer with colossal amounts of real, Northwest-grown blackberries and raspberries. Those sweet little berries take center stage in every silky sip, while the Sour base ups the complexity by adding a tart, lemony tang.
Urban Family is no stranger to working with these humble bramble fruits. Their berry-loaded Sours earned the brewery a Double Gold Medal in Sip Northwest’s Best of the Northwest Beer last year!
Which kinda makes every sip of today’s sanity-preserving jam taste that much sweeter, if you ask me.
