When Rick, Heater Allen’s owner, developed the brewery’s iconic Pils, he brewed a whopping 17 batches before deciding on the ideal recipe!
A picture-perfect Pilsner is a difficult thing to master, and this award-winning Oregonian has it down to a science.
Inspired by the world-renowned Pilsner Urquell from the Czech Republic, Rick leaves Heater Allen’s Pils unfiltered and lagers it for at least 8 weeks before canning.
But, it's Heater Allen's use of Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner Malts and Czech Saaz Hops that make it a little more golden, more full-bodied, and full of more delicious caramel malt notes than the Pils you'll find in Europe!
With its strong hop character and honey kissed Chex cereal-like flavor, it’s no wonder why Oregon locals are poppin’ this Pils again and again:
- “Crazy refreshment factor on this one. Delicious journey through crisp pilsner malt, light/sweet esters, and proper Saaz hoppage to round it out.” @Filip S.
- “Just great. Outstanding representation of the style.” @Michael F.
- “Sessionable, smooth, and packs enough flavor to bring you back for another sip.” @Seth D.
Pils may be a year-round staple at Heater Allen's taproom, but we’ve only got a limited stash here at Direct.Beer. Once these 15 cases are gone, that’s all, folks!
