I normally say “no” to LSD, but when it's from one of HopCulture's 8 Best Breweries in St. Louis, I make an exception.
Especially when it’s their thick n’ boozy 11.5% ABV Liquid Spiritual Delight (LSD) Imperial Stout!
With strong aromas of caramel, coffee, and roasted chestnut, it’s tough to decline this seasonal 2nd Shift staple. Careful though, ‘cause one sip of today’s shockingly smooth, inky-black liquid is all it takes to send you buzzing straight into malty-chocolate euphoria!
Now, I know what you’re thinking — such rich flavors of espresso, toffee, and dark chocolate laced with molasses have to mean there’s something “extra” added to this beer, right?
Nope! This silky, flavorful whirlwind comes entirely from grain!
That’s right — in a modern Dark Beer world full of adjuncts, these guys defied trends and nailed a traditional Imperial Stout. And man, is LSD some serious nirvana.
In fact, you may even have some of your best ideas while kicking back with a can of it. Like the enlightened decision to grab more than one bottle of this limited-batch brew, especially since Direct.Beer only has a few cases!
I suggest sitting down when you try that first sip. I’m about 99.9% sure there aren’t any illicit substances in this LSD, but that chewy, chocolatey goodness will have you feeling pretty darn out-of-body nonetheless.
