As a kid, I was an Ocean’s 11-level brownie thief. Whenever my mom pulled a fresh pan of gooey chocolate goodness out of the oven, I’d wait until she turned her back, then creep in with ninja-stealth to swipe an almost-too-hot corner piece. Please don’t report me to Interpol.
Nowadays, it’s my wife’s brownies cooling on the counter, and she’s a lot harder to fool than my mom ever was. So, anytime she starts baking, I avoid the kitchen and head to the beer fridge for a can of Double Chocolate Brownie Stout.
The brewers at Chicago’s Hubbard’s Cave crafted this thick, decadent beer with over 500 lbs of cocoa, real chocolate chips, and creamy vanilla per batch, so it actually tastes like a homemade brownie. Every sip tumbles through fudgy waterfalls with whirls of rich vanilla and hints of dark cacao.
And, I don’t even have to steal it! Although I probably would, if I had no other option.
In fact, if you’re lucky enough to snag a can or two of this brand new brew, you should probably keep a close eye on it. Speaking from personal experience, the world is full of brownie thieves, and a fridgful of Double Chocolate is just the kind of heist they’re looking for.
According to The Beer Travel Guide, Hubbard’s Cave “can easily hang with the best in the state!”
