Today’s Bistro Pumpkin Cobbler is a Berliner Weisse that smells like fresh-baked pumpkin pie. On the tongue, it tastes like velvety pumpkin ice cream topped with warm spices and homemade whipped cream!
That’s because Energy City added doses of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, and brown sugar to the brew for a full-bodied dessert Weisse.
The brewers loaded all that spice on top of more than 100 actual pumpkins in the batch, making for a full serving (a half cup!) of pumpkin in every can! I’ve had some impressive brews from EC’s dessert-inspired Bistro series, but this one really takes the cake, er, cobbler.
I’ll be straight with you — this is a limited batch that sold out in the blink of an eye at Energy City’s taproom. As the craft fans in Batavia, Illinois are all too aware, waiting isn’t an option if you want a taste.
